EXCELFlow Fume Cupboards

Specification

General
The fume cupboard has been independently type-tested in accordance with the procedures laid down in BS 7258: Part 4: 1994. The type test confirmed maximum mean escape concentration less than 5ppb (0.005ppm) at all test positions and maximum instantaneous escape concentration of 10ppb (0.010ppm) at all test positions with a specified nominal face velocity of 0.5 m/s.

EXCELFLOW Fume Cupboards

Construction and Finish
Double skin construction comprising 1.25mm thick outer skin of electronically zinc coated mild steel sheet finished in RAL 9010 white epoxy dry polyester powder coating. The contoured airfoil cill is fabricated from 1.25mm brushed finish grade 316 stainless steel and formed to assist with low level air scavenging. All fixings throughout are A2 grade stainless steel.

Internal Linings
Internal liners are 6mm thick white solid grade Trespa laminate. The back baffle is configured in two sections using stainless steel screw fixings to enable periodic removal of the baffles for routine maintenance.

Workbed
16mm White Trespa with a 16mm spillage lip to all sides supported on horizontal runner to both side inner chamber faces.

Bypass System
(Constant air volume fume cupboard)
For constant volume extraction applications, an air by-pass system above the working aperture of the fume is concealed behind the aerodynamic fascia panel. The function of the bypass is to allow air to pass into the chamber at a point above the head height of the operative and assist in compensating the air drawn through the sash aperture at the lower sash opening and thus assist in control of the sash face velocity.

Fume Cupboard Services
Fume cupboard air flow monitor incorporating:

  • Continued face velocity measurement and indication
  • Audio visual low air alarm
  • Audio visual sash high alarm with timed mute
  • Fan start/stop controls with volt free relay output SPCO contacts
  • Low air flow alarm volt free relay output DPCO contacts
  • Complies with BS and COSHH requirements
  • SMI Airflow sensor is mounted in clean air.

Pre plumbed and wired services
To clients specification. All controls fitted to front of the Fume cupboard.

Fume Cupboard Support Frame
Manufactured in mild steel hollow section the frame is fabricated with suitable joints and finished in chemically resistant epoxy paint. The rear and side frames have a horizontal supporting bar at low level but the front is open to allow positioning of an under bench storage unit. To compensate for minor irregularities in laboratory floor levels, the frame has an adjustable foot on each leg.

Chamber Illumination
A reflector housing external to the chamber houses a fluorescent tube to provide a level of 400 lux within the fume chamber.

Sash
The vertically operating sash is 6mm thick toughened safety glass complying with BS 6206 Class A.
